Course Description

Cardiff Metropolitan University have partnered with the UKSCA to offer this award, whereby the UKSCA serve as the quality assuring body for this qualification. The UKSCA trainer award will be offered to Level 6 SCRaM students as an additional, optional qualification which will entail five assessments running within the T1 SSP6136 S&C module and T2 SSP6135 Case Study Module. Please note these assessments are in addition to the module assessments.

The UKSCA endorsed L3 S&C Trainer Diploma aims to prepare, develop and motivate aspiring S&C coaches, whilst introducing practitioners to the key principles of strength and conditioning. This entry-level of qualification provides undergraduates with a nationally recognised vocational coaching qualification, registration to the UKSCA National Register as S&C Trainers and a lifelong learning experience that helps prepare for UKSCA accreditation or/and a future career in S&C. Students will be guided through these assessment tasks throughout the course programme by SCRaM staff. The fee per student covers the following with UKSCA:

  • Registration/certification fees for the Transcend Level 3 Diploma for UKSCA S&C Trainers
  • Associate membership to the UKSCA (worth £60) and access to all materials in UKSCA-IQ
  • Access to the UKSCA S&C Trainer elearning modules (worth £50)
  • A copy of the UKSCA Trainer core text (worth £55)
  • Use of the UKSCA learner web app

Before applying, please ensure you meet the following course entry requirements:
- You are a Level 6 (3rd year) SCRaM student
- You attained a minimum overall grade of 55% in your level 5 S&C module (SSP5134)

Students who opt to take this course must choose to complete their Term 2 Case study module (SSP6135)within the S&C discipline (not within Rehab or Massage) as a number of assessments will take place within these sessions. Please note, these five assessments for the trainer award are in addition to the module assessments and therefore students must be prepared to complete the award alongside their SCRaM degree programme.
